Originally from Panama, Chabi now trains in Canada to pursue a career in classical ballet. An emerging ballet dancer, she recently graduated from the Dance Performance program at George Brown College and was awarded the Dean’s Medal. She was able to train under several teachers, such as Hiroto Saito, Laetitia Clement, Cindy Macedo, Derek Sangster and Nicola Pantin. During her time at George Brown, she had the opportunity to make her debut as Klara in The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition by Ballet Jörgen. The program allowed her to work with renowned choreographers like Alyssa Martin “Rock Bottom Movement”, José Angel Carret “Danza Corpus” and Derek Sangster “George Brown College”. This summer she was accepted to join Ballet Jörgen’s Junior Company, where she learned the company’s repertoire for the upcoming season. Her recent work includes the filming of Dance No. 4 for Saxophones and performing Bach Concerto No.1 at Dance Ontario’s Dance Weekend. She is excited to start her Apprenticeship with Ballet Jörgen and is looking forward to the opportunities the future will bring.
