Maya Gale-Buncel is an emerging contemporary dance artist currently based in Toronto, Ontario. She has most recently performed in a piece entitled How Far as a part of the Human Body Expressions Mixed Program 2022 (Hanna Kiel). In addition, she has also performed original work by Dawson Lloyd at The Garage TO Showing (2021), as well as works by Shameka Blake (Artists in Motion) in shows such as 1234 DanceArts (2019/20), and Symphony Spooktacular (Toronto Symphony Orchestra) at Roy Thompson Hall (2019). Maya completed her training in the Dance Performance Program at George Brown College in 2022, where she valued the opportunity to work with notable choreographers Alyssa Martin (Rock Bottom Movement) and José Carret (Danza Corpus) for Unleashed (2021/22). Looking forward, she is excited to further develop connections in the mentorship program with Hanna Kiel and Derek Sangster, and she hopes to continue to grow as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and artist.
