Dancer Q&A: Adrián Ramírez Juárez

Adrián enjoys the sites after a stop in Winnipeg for lunch and meeting new friends.

Q: Congratulations on the Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet™ tour being so successful – all the dancers are amazing and really pour their hearts into their roles. What roles do you dance?

A: Thank you, everyone I’m one of the School Boys, a Sprite, the Doctor, a Daffodil and a Scarecrow for 5 seconds.

Q: What do you find most challenging about this ballet?

A: Definitely the quick costume changes between each scene. Backstage gets crazy sometimes, people running from one side of the stage to the other, everyone is helping others with their zips, snaps, hooks, hats you name it. You are busy all the time even when you are not dancing on stage.

Q: The Company has been on tour with Anne since January and is not finished until May before the final performance in July – how do you stay motivated on a tour this long?

A: This is a really good question; normally I look forward to seeing certain places. Cities, theatres specially cities or towns that I’ve never been. I can go out and explore these places and sometimes get a rare chance to see friends that I haven’t seen in a while.

Q: Do you have any rituals you do on the day of the performance?

A: When I’m on tour and I have the chance, I go swimming before starting my activities. That helps my body get ready for the day. But other than that not really. I try to keep it one day at the time.
