Level: Foundation II | Duration: 20 minutes | Equipment required: Barre, chair, or counter for balance, Yoga block and a Yoga mat for floor work (optional).
This lesson builds on the fundamentals of the Battement glissé and how to execute it in all directions – en croix, en dehors, or front, side and back.
Battement glissé, also known as a Battement dégagé, is a movement where the leg slides straight out away from the body with the toes brushing off the floor before closing back in. Another name for this movement is Battement tendu jeté.
Being able to execute a Battement glissé in all directions will give you strong legs, a better jump and greater control through your entire core.
In this lesson you will learn:
- How to use your legs and feet properly in all three directions of this important ballet movement
- To connect both legs and both sides at the same time
- To emphasize the stretching of the working foot through the toes
