Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet Local Participant Program®

The Anne of Green Gables Local Participant Program gives young dancers the opportunity to perform with a professional dance company. They interact with professional dancers and gain invaluable performance experience as they dance with Ballet Jörgen.

Ballet Jörgen Canada is looking for a total of 9-12 dancers to perform with the company in their performance of Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet®.

The cast will be assembled from local area students, based on a recommendation by their dance teacher. The cast will rehearse with the Company for 1.75 hours, the day before the show and then 3-4 hours on the day of the show.

The candidates will need to learn the choreography quickly, listen well, and follow and retain directions easily. They must have good stage presence and carry themselves well. There are few ‘formal’ dance steps.

*All roles and requirements are subject to change. COVID protocols and parameters will be determined by each individual venue and presenter.*

Young Children & Nature Character Height: 4’2 – 4’9 2-4 roles

School-age Children & Nature Character Height: 4’10-5’3 3-5 roles

Teenagers/Young Adults & Nature Character Height: 5’4-5’6 1-3 roles

Please note that we do not expect anyone to have to purchase special items in order to participate in the show. We can provide most anything a student does not already own or borrow for the show. For the audition: Please wear your regular ballet class dancewear and ballet shoes. Be warm and ready to dance. For your first rehearsal: Please wear your regular ballet class dancewear and ballet shoes. Where possible, please bring footwear that pertains to the roles you are eligible for, see below for requirements. For your wardrobe fittings and stage rehearsals: As well as your own regular dance wear and dance footwear please bring the following:

Wardrobe Requirements:

Female Roles: Skin-tone sleeveless bodysuit, pink tights, ballet slippers Male Roles: White or black ballet slippers Hair: All roles to bring basic hair supplies (elastics, hairspray, bobby pins, hair pins etc) Long hair will be worn in a bun, short hair will be worn as is.

For the performance(s):

Wardrobe, footwear and hair as determined at the fittings. Make-up: Basic make-up: brown/black eyeliner – Female roles: lipstick & mascara as well.
