Swan Lake – Local Participant Program

The Swan Lake Local Participant Program gives young dancers and theatre artists the opportunity to perform with a professional dance company. They interact with professional dancers and gain invaluable performance experience as they dance with Ballet Jörgen.

Ballet Jörgen is looking for a total of 12-15 dancers that can include 2 theatre students, to perform locally with the company in their performance of Swan Lake.

The cast will be assembled from local area students who apply for a role and based on a recommendation by their dance/theatre teacher. Typically, the cast will rehearse with the Company for 2 hours on the day before the show and then again for 5-6 hours on the day of the show.

The candidates will need to learn the choreography quickly, listen well, and follow and retain directions easily. They must have good stage presence and carry themselves well. Roles necessitate wearing tights.

*All roles and requirements are subject to change.*

To gain a role and perform in your local performance of Swan Lake, students apply for a role and teachers submit a recommendation for that dancer.

When registering, we will collect the dancer’s name, date of birth, phone number, email address, height, waist & chest measurements, guardian contact information and studio affiliation contact information.

The teacher is asked to provide their own contact information and the height, waist and chest measurement of the dancer they are recommending. AND a brief note that gives us information about the dancer – their talents and a rationale behind your recommendation for a role. We truly welcome insight into your dancer’s uniqueness.

Jörgen Dance Academy’s Director will select the student dancers from the list of recommendations and applications for your region and then contact the teachers and participants with the casting results. These casting results are determined about 2 weeks before the performance.

Depending on the overall number of applications received and from how many different local studios, coupled with the range of roles and costume sizes – casting is determined with the goal of including as many dancers as possible and from as many different studios that applied.

The deadline to apply is listed on the Performances & Schedules tab.

All participants must be willing to wear tights.
