Ballet Jörgen sets new box office record for The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition!

Ballet Jörgen’s critically acclaimed production of The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition reached a new milestone with its highest grossing holiday season ever. With many of the 22 performances across Ontario and Saskatchewan sold-out, the production earned $681,410 in combined box office and performance fees – an increase of 11.2% over its previously highest revenue season in 2018.

“We are grateful for the many Canadians who come out and support the Company. Earned revenue accounts for 50% of our budget, one of the highest percentages for any dance company in Canada. Investing in major family productions that tell Canadian stories is an important part of the company’s efforts to make ballet more accessible.” – Bengt Jorgen, C.M., Artistic Director & CEO

Ballet Jörgen is committed to making the arts accessible to all Canadians and has been programming dance across Canada since 1987. The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition was in part made possible with support from National Presenting Partner BMO Financial Group, with touring support from the Ontario Arts Council, The Richardson Foundation, The Catherine and Maxwell Meighen Foundation, The Charles H. Ivey Foundation, The Azrieli Foundation and Ballet Jörgen donors. The Apprentice Program is made possible by the RBC Foundation.

Words cannot describe how magical it was finally being able to take my daughter to see The Nutcracker. Jörgen Danceput on an amazing presentation, and it was just an incredible night. The production was beautiful, the dancers were incredible…” – Audience Member, Guelph ON
