Sophie Kane’s love for dance began at an early age. To date, she has been studying ballet for nineteen years, in addition to extensive training in modern, contemporary, jazz, and character dance. Most of her early years were spent dancing at the Faubourg School of Ballet and Ballet Detroit in the USA. She has attended summer programs with American Ballet Theatre, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, Royal Danish Ballet, and Ballet Arizona. In May 2025, she graduated from the University of Utah with a B.F.A. in Ballet, where she was the recipient of the Alice Walton Call Scholarship, and a B.S. in Applied Physics. During her time in college she performed a variety of classical and contemporary repertoire, including Kingdom of the Shades from La Bayadère, Serenade, Les Sylphides, A Choreographic Offering by José Limón, and new works by Cherylyn Lavagnino, Natalie Desch, and Sayoko Knode. In 2023, she was honoured to perform alongside Collage Dance Collective during their University of Utah residency. She served as treasurer of Character Dance Ensemble for three years, a student-led organization committed to learning and teaching global dance forms through travel and community outreach.
