Level: Foundation | Duration: 21 minutes | Equipment required: Barre, chair, or counter for balance, Yoga mat (optional).
This lesson focuses on how to properly execute Tendu derrière. Tendu to the back or “Tendu derrière” is the most difficult of all the tendu directions. This move uniquely activates the seat muscles, elongates the front of the hips, and sets the foundation for the proper use of muscles and alignment for the Arabesque line.
In this lesson you will learn:
- How to build the strength and control needed to isolate your extended leg from your hips
- How to stay fully stretched behind your knees and maintain your turnout when executing Tendu derrière (back)
- Common mistakes when executing Tendu derrière (back)
