Level: Foundation I | Duration: 21 minutes | Equipment required: Barre, chair, or counter for balance, and a Yoga mat for floor work (optional).
The lesson focuses on the Battement fondu movement in ballet. The term Fondu comes from French, meaning “molten”. Essentially it is a Plié on one leg; yet the term often refers to the Battement fondu that combines the Cou-de-pied, the Développé and the Enveloppé which are all fully coordinated and done with a ‘melting’ feeling.
In this lesson you will learn:
- How to coordinate your two legs when each leg must travel different distances
- How to use the basic Port de bras in a Battement fondu
- To keep the hips and upper body even and still above the folding legs and bending knees
