Level: Foundation II | Duration: 23:30 minutes | Equipment required: Barre
In this video, you will learn how to do a Grand battement at 90 degrees or higher with proper placement and a great direction of energy. This is a movement that requires a lot of power and control and is one of the most misunderstood steps in the ballet lexicon.
In this lesson you will learn:
- how to use your legs and upper body and to maintain correct placement as your leg is “pushed” up to 90 degrees or above
- how to use the back of the legs to send energy down the working leg and release that energy freely up into the air
- Grand battement devant and à la seconde
