Coming Full Circle with Swan Lake on our East Coast Tour

Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen with Symphony Nova Scotia Music Director Bernhard Gueller, at a creative session in 2012.

We have just finished four performances in Halifax with Symphony Nova Scotia, and I am very touched by how far the production of Swan Lake has come since its premiere in 2012. The production is inspired by the picturesque seascape of the Louisbourg Fortress in Nova Scotia, and we performed Swan Lake with Symphony Nova Scotia in April 2013. This East Coast tour truly feels like a homecoming.

Swan Lake is strongly influenced by the natural beauty of Atlantic Canada, and I am indebted to many supporters who helped us realize this vision. The Michael Young Family Foundation is our creation partner for Swan Lake, and I must also thank Margaret and David Fountain, our lead donors from Halifax, and the late Ann and Lyman Henderson for their gift to help us continue to create new ballets.

5 years ago, we brought Swan Lake to 7 different provinces. This season, we are proud to be able to bring the production to 2 more provinces: Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The Newfoundland tour, in particular, is a challenging endeavor for the company, and I am extremely grateful to the outpour of support that made it possible.

We set out for Newfoundland tomorrow, please stay tuned for more news from the road!

Sincerely,

Bengt Jörgen
